Hawkins Wright 5th Shanghai Symposium, Thursday 16th March 2017

For more than fifteen years Hawkins Wright has been engaged in market research and consultancy services specifically focused on the fast developing but often opaque Chinese pulp and paper sector. Through our unique approach marrying primary fieldwork with detailed desk research, we have developed an original and industry recognised model for analysing and forecasting the Chinese market. Throughout the course of this work we have developed an unparalleled network of clients and associates engaged in all activities relating to the sector, operating in China and overseas. Since 2005 we have worked with Chinese partners to provide a forum for Chinese and foreign companies to come together, present their views, and share ideas.

Over the course of this time, we have listened to the feedback from event participants from both China and overseas. Our aim is to replicate the success of well established events which take place every year in May in North America, and November in London (www.pulpweek.co.uk). In doing so we have developed a format which best serves the industry; that is a one day event of high quality, affordable to all, located in Shanghai.

Why Shanghai?

Nearly half of market pulp shipped to China is imported to Shanghai and surrounding ports. More than 90% of Chinese customers are located within 1.5 hour fl ight or a few hours overland travel from Shanghai. In addition, Shanghai is the starting point of the Yangtze River, a major waterway. With the fast economic development of central and western China, we expect more pulp volume will be transported to inland China via the Yangtze River. Furthermore, the majority of foreign and multi-national pulp and paper companies have their China operations headquarters in Shanghai.

Shanghai is also the most developed city in China, boasting many world class hotels, restaurants, and conference centers, ideal for organising International Pulp Week to serve Chinese and international companies alike.
